Day 162: Shame

I feel horrible not just for posting this photo, but for taking it in the first place.

Others disagreed, since this is a common sight down in the East Village.

  1. I can see why you wouldn't want to take or post it. But here are 2 reasons why I think it's a good photo to share:
    - you don't show his face, so there's no issue of confidentiality
    - there could be some artistic meaning to the way his hand is stretched out towards the crowd of people, like he's wanting to reach out and either be a part or pull people closer but for whatever reason he can't. I don't know if you intended that, but it's something I noticed right away.

Oh, and also - the composition of the photo rocks!

Congrats on keeping it up! I'm thinking of starting another 365 using just an iPhone, maybe July 1st? I've missed it!

  2. Yes, the anonymity was ultimately why it became doable for me. I've been very interested throughout the project so far when I hit moments where I just don't feel right taking a shot I know is going to be pretty good - this one, as an example, but mostly in the subway.

I'm really amazed it's almost halfway done and I haven't missed a day! The year is going by super fast. I think your idea to do one all on your phone is a really good project - if the camera in my old iPhone 3GS weren't so awful, I'd be doing a much larger share of this project on my phone and getting some very different kinds of photos.
