So the Germany adventure was sort of life-altering. I got to have the closure I wished I'd gotten four years ago. I learned that saying goodbye to my academic career by no means meant saying goodbye to all the things I'd grown to love in pursuit of it. I discovered my German is still good enough to impress the locals. I got to enjoy being in a place where a lot of things make basic sense to me. I got to enjoy the fact that for whatever reason, German guys and I have a much easier time flirting than ever occurs to me back home. So I'm back home now, missing all my stuff thanks to airport craziness, but I feel very excited about the remainder of the year. The gloom I felt before departure is dispelled.

Day 274: Neue Horizonte
